On the cruise, they come across Kaoru, who has also signed up to raise money for the dojo. They sign up for a team of warriors that have been hired to capture the Kairyu pirates, a group of freakish rouges that have been raiding silk ships on the high seas. The series is based on a homonymous manga created by Nobuhiro Watsuki, which was first published in 1994. Together they all fight those who oppress the weak while they seek their destiny as well happiness and redemption. Rurouni Kenshin (the OAVs and Movie are known as Samurai X) tells the story of a wanderer named Kenshin, who used to be called Hitokiri Battousai (Hitokiri means Assassin) during the Japanese civil war, and is now trying to make up for his past and all his murders by helping those in trouble with his reverse-blade sword and by using his powerful technique called Hiten-Mitsurugi Ryu to battle oppressors of freedom and justice, yet struggling with himself and his own murdering self.ĭuring the series Kenshin joins others in his quest: Kaoru Kamiya, a young orphan girl who became tutor of the Kamiya-Kashin Ryu Kendo style Sanosuke Sagara, a mercenary who used to bear the name Zanza and fights just with his incredibly powerful fists Yahiko Myojin, a young boy who was rescued by Kenshin from a band of thieves and now a pupil on Kaoru's dojo and Megumi Takani, a female doctor who was rescued by Kenshin from a band which forced her to make a lethal drug. Although a lot of it was a bit cartoony and cheesy than what I'm used to seeing in this particular genre (which I'll attribute to its anime origins), I was entertained and I do wanna see how all this ends.
I thought the fight scenes were fun to watch. So why not? Despite only barely knowing about the existence of this franchise, I was able to follow the story with little problems. I mean, it's about samurai and I love samurai flicks.

Here's a crazy idea: Why don't I watch a sequel to a film I never saw based on an anime TV series I haven't watched which is in turn based on a manga I've never read? What could possibly happen? Well, as it turns out, it wasn't such a bad idea. The director, the actors, the props, the plot everything plays to perfection. This movie is the highlight of the year and for many to come. For those who don't know it yet, you should. If you're looking for movie that keeps you glued to your seat go watch it. It really has life and soul breathed into it. Well this one not only lives up to first and more, it lives up to its anime and manga counterparts. Most people say sequel is never as good as the first one. Other expect is great, great production, music, still great movie to watch but might a bit weak in story. Back to action good quality stuff like the first one but mostly on group battle but the duel screen in this one doesn't interesting like the first movie.
The core still there with a bit moving forward the story should be more interesting in the next movie. Even they decide to split the movie into two parts I think it still not able to express all the complex thing that happen in this arc like in manga.
